GNU autoconf for MPE/iX

This port is a prototype; it is totally unsupported but it seems to work (at least for me ;)

I found initial information about GNU autoconf (and lots of other GNU tools) at the Info Pages of the Floyd R. Newman Laboratory of Nuclear Studies (LNS) at the Cornell University Department of Physics...

Here is a copy of the GNU autoconf distribution that I picked from one of the GNU mirrors sites...

Using the texi2html translator I extracted the following docs from the above package...

Porting GNU autoconf to MPE/iX was fairly easy as it basically uses Perl and the GNU m4 macro processor, the latter being available as part of Mark Bixby's sendmail port (haven't tested it but you would probably find the single file /SENDMAIL/PUB/bin/m4 sufficient). Here are the diffs...

Here is a package of the files that have been added to allow GNU autoconf build on MPE/iX...

And here you can see how to run your own build with above components...

If you do not want to run your own build, you may download the resulting binaries here...

And for the totally lazy with reasonable download bandwith... a copy of all the above tar-packs...

As always, feedback welcome and best-effort help available (but I'm an autoconf beginner).
